Tottenham Move into Top Four with 3-1 Win over Nottingham Forest
Deserved Victory at Home
Tottenham Hotspur moved into the top four of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at home on Sunday. The win was the Spurs' second in a row and took them above Aston Villa, who drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
First Half Dominance
Tottenham dominated the first half and took the lead in the 29th minute through Harry Kane. The England captain scored from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Scott McKenna. Tottenham doubled their lead just five minutes later when Emerson Royal headed home from close range.
Second Half Fightback
Nottingham Forest pulled a goal back in the second half through Brennan Johnson, but Tottenham held on to secure the victory. Richarlison scored the hosts' third goal in the 84th minute to seal the win.
Postecoglou Pleased
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was pleased with his team's performance.
"It was a good performance and a deserved victory," he said.
"We played with great intensity and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I am happy with the three points."
Cooper Disappointed
Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper was disappointed with his team's performance.
"We didn't play well enough today," he said.
"We gave Tottenham too much time and space on the ball and they punished us. We need to be better in our next game."
Upcoming Fixtures
Tottenham will next face Manchester City in the Premier League on Thursday, while Nottingham Forest will host Leeds United on Saturday.
