September 2 1945: A historic day
On September 2 1945 Japanese representatives signed the official Instrument of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This event marked the end of World War II and the beginning of a new era in world history. Seventy-seven years later we remember the sacrifices made by all those who fought in the war and we recommit ourselves to building a more peaceful future.
